A Case Study of Play Therapy for a Child with Reactive Attachment Disorder and Autistic Features

Abstract
This is a case study of child who diagnosed Borderline Intellectual Functioning, Emotional Disturbance, Reactive Attachment Disorder, R/O Asperger¡¯s Disorder. She spent her infancy in an unstable environment because of her primary care giver couldn¡¯t give a sensitive care. Her mother had also depressed mood disorder from early adulthood. Individual play therapy was conducted 32 times, and her emotional problems get better conditions. Her parents get more exact concepts about her emotion and behaviors. Also they have more supportive parenting attitude. In this case, the therapist conducted integrative psychotherapy to improve her cognitive problem. Her intellectual functioning was borderline level. Especially, performance intelligence was lower than verbal intelligence. And fine motor skill was poor than average score. Integrative psychotherapy includes cognitive-learning therapy and art therapy. She showed improved score to her fine motor skill test, VMI and a few testlet in intelligence test, K-WISC III.
